Mustique

Made famous in the 1970’s by the likes of Princess Margaret, Mick Jagger and David Bowie, the one and only Basil’s Bar on Mustique still retains charm and magic. Pretty much the only major independent bar/ restaurant on this uniquely fragrant and wallet-chomping island, Basil’s is legendary for welcoming everyone and with a great levelling vibe – yachties party with business moguls, models, gardeners, rocks stars and school teachers.Basils Bar Mustique4

Christmas Day here sees Basil himself dress up as Santa with billionaire publisher Felix Dennis as an elf to assist in handing out presents to local children.

The kitchen is open all year from 8am until 10pm serving everything from banana pancakes to grilled lobster – Marlon is an excellent waiter with a welcoming broad smile. Live music often supplied by the DJ or the house band motivating guests to dance, albeit that they will be in the apparent dress code of linen & big watch for the gents and silk kaftans with diamonds for the ladies.
